Pay Net Zero: offset what card payments cost you

Pay Net Zero lets you recover some or all of your card processing costs in one of two ways: a discount for customers who pay cash, or a fee for customers who pay by credit card. We help you choose, set up your terminal and signage, and explain the rules where you do business.

Who it's for

Pay Net Zero tends to suit businesses where card fees take a noticeable share of each sale and customers are used to clear pricing at checkout.

  • Businesses with thin margins, such as auto repair, convenience stores and restaurants
  • Owners who would rather show processing costs openly than build them into every price
  • Merchants who already post cash prices, or are comfortable explaining a card fee
  • Businesses ready to keep signs and receipts accurate, which the program depends on

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Review what you pay now

Send us a recent processing statement. We show you what accepting cards costs you today, line by line.

  2. Step 2

Choose cash discount or card fee

We explain how each option looks to your customers, which cards it can apply to, and the rules that affect your state.

  3. Step 3

Set up your terminal and signs

We program your terminal to show the right amounts on screen and on receipts, and tell you which notices customers need to see.

  4. Step 4

    Check your first statements

After launch we go through your first statements with you to confirm the program works the way we described.

What the program costs

Pricing depends on the option you choose, your card mix and your monthly volume. Your quote lists every fee before you sign. [PLACEHOLDER: Pay Net Zero program fees, equipment terms and contract length]

  • A written quote that names every fee
  • Terminal programming for the option you choose
  • Customer signage and receipt wording [PLACEHOLDER: Confirm signage is supplied]

Questions we hear

The questions merchants ask us most. Ask us anything else on a call.

What's the difference between a cash discount and a surcharge?

With a cash discount, your posted price includes the cost of card processing, and customers who pay cash get a discount. With a surcharge, your posted price is the cash price, and a fee is added when a customer pays with a credit card. Each one follows its own card-brand rules and state laws.

Can I add a fee to debit card payments?

No. Card-brand rules don't allow surcharges on debit or prepaid cards, even when the customer signs instead of entering a PIN. A cash discount program works differently, so ask us how your terminal will handle debit cards.

Is Pay Net Zero allowed in my state?

Some states restrict or prohibit surcharging, and the rules change over time. We check the current rules for your location before setup. [PLACEHOLDER: Legal to confirm the state guidance TurnKey gives merchants]

Will my customers notice?

Yes, and they should. Both options require clear notice before a customer pays, usually signs at the entrance and the register, plus the fee or discount shown on the receipt. Clear notice is what keeps checkout free of surprises.

Does Pay Net Zero cover every processing cost?

It depends on the option and your card mix. A credit card fee can't be applied to debit card sales, so some costs may remain. We show you the expected result for your business before you commit.

Do I need a new terminal?

Not always. Many Dejavoo terminals support cash discount and surcharge programs. If yours can't, we'll recommend one that does. [PLACEHOLDER: Confirm which terminals TurnKey supports for Pay Net Zero]
