Hometown Heroes: setup savings for veteran-owned businesses

If you served and now run your own business, the Hometown Heroes program waives several fees that usually come with opening a merchant account. You get the same equipment, setup and support as every TurnKey merchant.

Who qualifies

The program is for businesses owned by U.S. military veterans. [PLACEHOLDER: Confirm eligibility rules, e.g. required ownership share and whether active duty, reserve, National Guard members and spouses qualify]

  • Veteran-owned businesses opening their first merchant account
  • Veteran owners switching from another processor
  • Retail, restaurant, service and other businesses [PLACEHOLDER: Confirm any industries excluded from the program]

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about your business

Book a consultation or send the short application form, and mention the Hometown Heroes program.

  2. Step 2

    Confirm eligibility

We ask for proof of veteran status before the waivers are applied. [PLACEHOLDER: Accepted proof, e.g. DD-214 or VA ID card]

  3. Step 3

    Get your written quote

We review your current statement or expected volume and give you a quote with the waived fees shown.

  4. Step 4

Set up and start taking payments

We program your terminal and walk you through it before your first sale.

Fees the program waives

These waivers reduce what you pay to get started and to keep your account open. Processing rates are quoted separately for each business.

Questions we hear

The questions merchants ask us most. Ask us anything else on a call.

Who counts as veteran-owned for this program?

[PLACEHOLDER: Eligibility rules for the Hometown Heroes program]. If you're not sure whether your business qualifies, ask us before you apply and we'll tell you.

Do veteran-owned businesses get different processing rates?

The program waives setup and account fees. Processing rates are quoted the same way as for any business, based on your industry, card mix and volume.

Can I join if I already have a merchant account elsewhere?

Yes. If you're switching processors, we review your current statement first and point out any early termination fee your current contract may charge, so you can plan the move.

What does the early termination fee waiver cover?

It covers the fee TurnKey would charge if you close your account early. It doesn't cover fees charged by your previous processor. [PLACEHOLDER: Confirm the terms of the early termination fee waiver]
